About LSCD
The Laredo School of Contemporary Dance opened its doors in August 2011 with one purpose: to give the dancers of Laredo a true home — a place to train, grow, and dream as big as they want to.
We believe great dancers are built, not born. That’s why every class at LSCD follows a real curriculum, taught by instructors with professional performance and education credentials — including certifications from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy and training at the Alvin Ailey School. Whether your child is 18 months old or you’re an adult trying dance for the very first time, you’ll find structured, age-appropriate instruction that builds technique the right way.
Our teachers aren’t just dancers — they’re certified educators with real stage and classroom experience.
Every level builds on the last. Students progress with purpose, not by guesswork.

Founder · Artistic Director · Instructor
Founder of LSCD. BA in Dance (UT Austin), MS in Curriculum & Instruction, Bolshoi Ballet Academy certified, Horton pedagogy training at the Alvin Ailey School.
LSCD Drill Company Co-Director
Daniela Veloz helps lead LSCD’s audition-based Drill Company, supporting dancers as they develop precision, performance quality, teamwork, and the versatility required for jazz, pom, hip hop, and dance-team settings.
Hip Hop Instructor · Hip Hop Crews Associate Director
Juan Mendez helps LSCD dancers build musicality, groove, performance quality, and versatility in hip hop and commercial dance. He works with recreational students and audition-based crew dancers, including Lil Blaze Crew, Grüv 956 Crew, and NFS CRÜ.

Grade 3-4 Ballet & Pointe 3/4 Guest Instructor
Guest ballet and pointe instructor trained at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, with professional experience including the Metropolitan Opera, Connecticut Ballet, Ballet New York, and Lynn Barr Dance Theatre.

LSCD offers fully equipped studio suites with sprung marley flooring, wall-length mirrors, and a professional sound system. Our comfortable lobby makes guests and performers feel welcome from the moment they arrive.
Located at 5901 McPherson Rd, our studio suites are also available to rent for rehearsals, workshops, and events
Brag Strip / Results
Our students don’t just dance in Laredo — they take Laredo everywhere they go.
LSCD dancers have been accepted to NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Fordham University/The Ailey School, University of the Arts, UT Austin, Boston Conservatory, and more — and have trained at summer intensives with the Bolshoi Ballet, Joffrey Ballet,Houston Ballet, Boston Ballet, Kirov Academy, and Alonzo King LINES.
The hardest part of dance is walking in the door for the first time. So we made it easy — come try any class, completely free, and see if LSCD feels like home.
